Showa memorial park

I am glad to see ya again!! It is How Unique Japan!

This time, let me ask you. You would think Japan is a small island for such an enormous population. So, Tokyo citizens don’t have any big parks to just enjoy walking or running, wouldn’t you?

If you think like that, you are correct! Yap. We (Japanese) couldn’t keep a pig park like ”Central New-York” because of the size of our country. However, Japan has many good parks like “Showa memorial Park” but not so many. Thus, this time, I would love to introduce that park as (Unique town (park) to visit)!

The park was established as the monument for 50th anniversary for Showa Japanese emperor’s enthronement in 1983. Since then, it is be lived by many people with nature’s environments and events for example “Bonsai exhibition”.

The size of the park is HUGE!! In the leaflet, it is about 165.3 hectare (408 acre!!)

Are you interested in? Let’s take a look at my pictures! I went there in autumn season for walking activity.

“The entrance of the park”

That was great day for walking!

I was lucky because it was a great fine day to walk around. BTW, this is the entrance. It is easy to access from Nishi-Tachikawa station (just 30 minutes from Shinjuku by the train) because of a big and wide bridge from there. The cost to enter is about only 3 dollars for adults, 1.5 dollars for over 65 years old. Then under junior high school ages, it is free. Not expensive, isn’t it?

From the entrance, we are soon able to enjoy some beauties of nature like the picture on left side. As well as we can borrow a boat for the lake. The cost is about 5 dollars for 1 hour.

(Additionally, there are 7 more entrances around the park. I suppose, my entrance was easiest.)

The fountain that belongs to the south entrances.
It is a beautiful straight line.

“The Ginkgo tree street“

It was the autumn season. So, the park was colored dense yellow, red, and brown. That was absolutely beautiful, like THEM!

Those trees are Ginkgo tree. In my country, they are famous yellow trees every Autom season. Along the street, it is covered by such a yellow beauty like golden. The sight is definitely stunning!

 What is the next?

“The main area of the park”

It is the main area of the park. It is really HUGE! Many customers were enjoying any sports like frisbees, tennis, and just sun-bathing. Respectfully, we can buy some fun beverages like beer in shops which are around the park. (I’m sorry that I couldn’t get details of the menu in each shop. At least, I consumed one can of beer. It was about 2 dollars for 350ml).

“The playground for children”

There are of course many playgrounds as well. each of them is well designed, thus, I am sure some adults would want to join with kids. But unfortunately, they are for only children not for us (from warning signs).

Bouncy Big Nets! Like Trampoline!
This is lodge area!
They have several events here. Like “Experience of Carpenter!”
Some sights there are beautiful!

In the playground area, we can enjoy some activities in lodges that teach children about DIY things with professionals. Kids can enjoy making a woody doll, plates, sometimes a book-shell.

Few… I got little tired. But we don’t need to worry. Because this park also has own transportation systems to make our journey much easier.

“The transportation around the park”

So, it is a little tiring to walk around all areas. Thus, they have some goodies. So, customers can borrow the bicycle. And everyone can use it safely, because the cycling rods are billed separately. Even a cute locomotion (Truck which is like train) always runs around the park.

The locomotion name is “Tulip”. Cute.

The rental cost is not expensive. For the adult, 3 dollars (Additional fee is 5 cents every 30 minutes). Under the junior high school age, 1.8 dollars (The fee is 2 cents). It is useful! As well as the locomotion cost is FREE! OK! Let’s go to my final destination with loco!

“The Japanese traditional garden”

Thank you for the locomotion to take me to the final destination! So, I went to the “Japanese traditional garden” as my last stop. Because it is absolutely beautiful. Like them!

There are no words to explain how beautiful that was. Every Autumn season, this traditional garden is covered by such a red, orange, yellow and sky blue! As well as the garden has several houses for break. They are also based on the ancient design of Japan.

To close for my visiting!”

That was really fun walking activity! I reassured that it is worth to visit, especially for the people who love to see organized nature environments. But before you go, please check what season is going on in Japan. Because the park looks different every season as I said.
